An Extreme Fire Danger rating has been declared for Saturday 9 March and Sunday 10 March 2024 for our area.
Fires will spread quickly and be extremely dangerous. Expect hot, dry and windy conditions.
Take action now to protect your life and property.

Changes to Council services for Saturday 9 March and Sunday 10 March 2024:

  • Our waste transfer station at Anglesea will be closed by 10am on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Lorne and Winchelsea transfer stations will be closed.
  • Anglesea Resale Shed will be closed.
  • Anglesea Landfill will be closed (as per usual weekend schedule).
  • Street litter bin collections will occur early in the morning across the shire. There will be additional afternoon collections for street litter bins in Torquay only.*
  • The Lorne and Anglesea Visitor Information Centres will be closed, but a remote service will be offered by the Torquay Visitor Information Centre, which will remain open.*
*Torquay, being an urban area, has a lower risk profile than other areas in the shire so services that are closed elsewhere can continue in Torquay.
Torquay Library will be a cool place to go. It's opening hours have been extended this weekend.
Saturday 9 March: 10am - 6pm
Sunday 10 March: 1.30pm - 6pm
