Extreme speed in northern suburbs

A motorbike rider has been caught travelling at a ridiculous speed late last night.

Just after midnight on Thursday 1 December PolAir spotted a motorcycle travelling north on Main North Road at Sailsbury Park. A patrol attempted to stop the bike but the rider failed to stop. PolAir tracked the bike from above and clocked it travelling at 178km/h in an 80km/h zone.

The rider pulled into a fast-food drive thru where he was stopped by patrols.

Checks revelled the rider a 30-year-old Smithfield man only held a learners permit for his bike.

He was reported for failing to stop, extreme speed, failing to display L plates and contravene a condition of his learner's licence.

The man was issued a twelve month instant loss of licence and his bike was impounded for 28 days.
