Fairy Meadow truck crash driver charged, NSW

A Merrylands man will face court in April after his truck lost control on Mount Ousley, ending up in the car park of a Fairy Meadow fast food outlet.

Around 10am on 5 November 2018, the driver of a flat-bed truck carrying a load of steel, lost control on Old Mount Ousley Road and drove through a roundabout on the Princes Highway, colliding with a car,

After hitting a number of parked cars, the truck has continued into the car park of a Fairy Meadow fast food restaurant. The truck then hit a Hyundai, which was propelled the length of the car park

The 18-year-old female driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries while the female driver of the Hyundai sustained suspected fractures.

After further investigation by Wollongong Highway Patrol, a 23-year-old Merrylands man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for the offences of cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle (two counts), drive recklessly/manner dangerous and negligent driving.

The matter is set for mention at Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 16 April, 2019.
