The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating following a two-vehicle fatal traffic crash at Lake Wivenhoe last night, 14 March.
Initial investigations indicate about 11.10pm a white Holden Commodore has collided head-on with a black BMW travelling in the opposite direction on the Brisbane Vally Highway.
The driver of the Commodore, a 23-year-old Bracken Ridge woman, was declared deceased at the scene. The passenger in the Commodore, a 24-year-old Mango Hill man, was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.
The driver of the BMW, a 30-year-old Coominya woman, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing, including reports the Commodore had been involved with a large group seen hooning in the area just prior to the crash.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant footage to come forward.
