Police are currently at the scene of a fatal crash on the Glenelg Highway near Moutajup, Victoria Police say.
Investigators have been told a sedan was travelling west along the Glenelg Highway when the driver lost control and crossed on to the wrong side of the road about 6.15pm.
The car crashed head on with an east bound ute.
The driver of the car, believed to be a woman in her 80s, died at the scene.
The driver of the ute, believed to be a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital suffering minor injuries.
