Fatal House Fire in Petersham Draws Emergency Response

A woman has died following a house fire in Sydney's Inner West.

About 11.50pm yesterday (Friday 13 June 2025), emergency services were called to terraces on Westbourne Street, Petersham, following reports of a fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW worked to extinguish the blaze while police evacuated neighbouring homes.

A body – believed to be that of an 82-year-old woman – was located inside the building.

She is yet to be formally identified.

A second occupant of the home – a 57-year-old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for smoke inhalation before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

There are no other reports of injuries.

Officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the fire.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
