Fatal Motorcycle Crash Prompts Police Response

A motorcycle rider has died, and another is in a critical condition following a crash in the state's Hunter Region yesterday.

About 3.20pm (Sunday 7 September 2025), emergency services were called to Putty Road, Garland Valley, about 90km west of Cessnock, following reports two motorcycles had collided.

Officers attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended and assisted one rider – a man aged in his 50s – however he died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

The other rider – a 58-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene was established as specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit forensically examined the scene.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
