Fatal stabbing in Mount Garnet, QLD

Detectives are investigating following a stabbing incident in Mount Garnet last night that has resulted in the death of one man and the serious wounding of another, Queensland Police say.

Initial investigations suggest that two men were located with serious stab wounds to the back and chest outside the ambulance station on Garnet Road just before 10pm.

The men were treated at the scene however a 36-year-old man was pronounced deceased. A 33-year-old man was transported by helicopter to Cairns Base Hospital in a serious condition.

Police have established two crime scenes one at the residence in Coolgarra Road and the other at the QAS station on Garnet Street.

A man and a woman have been taken into custody and are currently assisting police with their investigations.
