Fatal Traffic Crash on Sunshine Coast: Police Respond

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash near Nirimba today.

Police were called to the northbound lanes of the Bruce Highway, between Roys Road and the Caloundra interchange, around 11.20am to reports a Mazda ute towing a caravan had veered across multiple lanes, collided with a Toyota ute before going down an embankment.

The driver of the Mazda with the caravan, a man in his 80s, died at the scene.

The passenger, a woman in her 60s, was transported to hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the Toyota was not physically injured.

Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident are urged to contact police.
