Fatal unit fire at Bribie Island, QLD

Police are investigating a unit fire at Bribie Island this morning which has resulted in one person being located deceased, Queensland Police say.

At about 7am, police responded to the Boyd Street residential complex at Woorim where one of the units was ablaze. The fire was able to be contained to one unit.

An elderly male occupant of the unit was evacuated and transported to Caboolture Hospital for smoke inhalation and is in a stable condition.

Further investigations located a deceased person inside the unit.

A man in his forties was treated at the scene for lacerations to his legs.

Investigations are continuing.
