A woman has died after a unit fire in Sydney's east today.
About 3pm (Tuesday 7 July 2026), emergency services responded to reports of a fire inside a first-floor unit on Alison Road, Randwick.
Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended along with Fire and Rescue NSW, who extinguished the blaze, however, the unit was significantly damaged.
A woman believed to be in her late 70s, was retrieved from the unit and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, she died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.
Another resident of the building, a man in his 30s, was treated for smoke inhalation.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is underway.
As emergency services work through the scene, road closures are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
