Police sadly report two people have died in the Kangaroo Island bushfires overnight.
In the early hours of Saturday 4 January, a CFS crew discovered a body in a burnt-out vehicle on the Playford Highway at Gosse, situated on the north-west side of Kangaroo Island, and a second person was located deceased nearby , not far from the burnt-out vehicle.
SAPOL Major Crime and Forensic Response Section are in attendance and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths and preparing a report for the Coroner.
No further information is currently available – with identification of the deceased still to be conducted.
