Federal Circuit Court of Australia Dismisses Legal Action Against Hay Shire

FEDERAL CIRCUIT COURT OF AUSTRALIA DISMISSES LEGAL ACTION AGAINST HAY SHIRE COUNCIL

Hay Shire Council (Council) wishes to advise that the Federal Circuit Court of Australia has dismissed legal action undertaken by its former General Manager (GM), Ms Amanda Spalding.

Ms Spalding commenced legal proceedings against Council and five Councillors after Council resolved to terminate her contract of employment in December, 2018.

She was employed under the Office of Local Government, NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet approved 'Standard Contract of Employment: General Managers of Local Councils in New South Wales' and her termination was undertaken in accordance with those provisions.

The Mayor and the Councillors concerned are pleased with the outcome of the Federal Court's ruling and are looking forward to continue working with Acting General Manager Kirstyn Thronder to deliver Council's strategic plan for the betterment of the Hay Shire community.

Council is currently in the process of recruitment for the permanent position of GM.
