Federal Labor's $14 billion funding boost for state schools

Education Minister Grace Grace has welcomed Federal Labor’s $14 billion funding commitment for the public schooling sector.

Ms Grace said Queensland state school students and teachers deserved their fair share of Federal Government funding.

"Federal Labor’s commitment of an additional $647 million for Queensland state schools is a very welcome boost," Ms Grace said.

"Clearly, Bill Shorten and Tanya Plibersek have a strong vision for public schools and will give the sector its fair share of funding.

"It’s great to see Federal Labor will prioritise funding for state schools, unlike the Coalition who have been dragging their feet on settling a fair funding deal for the states and territories.

"The Morrison Government has locked in a deal with the non-state sector, but we are no closer to reaching a long-term agreement for the state school sector.

"All we want is a fair deal for all Queensland students and this means public schools receiving their fair share of funding from the Federal Government.

"I’m looking forward to seeing the full details of Federal Labor’s funding plan and working with them to progress state education in Queensland."
