A Fijian national is scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today (18 July, 2025), charged with allegedly indecently exposing himself on a domestic flight in Australia.
The AFP charged the man, 30, on 1 June, 2025, after investigating an alleged incident on a flight from Melbourne to Brisbane that morning.
AFP officers at Brisbane Airport responded to a request for assistance from an airline and attended when the flight arrived from Melbourne.
Police will allege the man indecently exposed himself to two female passengers who were seated in the same row as him during the flight.
The passengers, who did not know the man, reported the alleged behaviour to airline staff and were subsequently moved to different seats. Airline staff then monitored the man for the remainder of the flight.
The AFP escorted the man from the aircraft at Brisbane Airport, before speaking to him and other passengers and crew.
Following inquiries, the AFP charged the man with one count of indecent exposure, contrary to section 393 of the Crimes Act 1900 (ACT). The maximum penalty for this offence is 12 months' imprisonment.
AFP Detective Superintendent Anthony Conway said there was no excuse for offensive behaviour in any situation, especially on a flight where passengers were confined in a limited space.
"Indecent conduct on a plane will not be tolerated, and the AFP will take action against individuals who engage in this kind of criminal behaviour," Det Supt Conway said.
