People using Mullumbimby Road will see Council's Works team on the shoulders of the road over the next two weeks as we start to prepare for the laying of the final seal.
The seal is expected to go down around September to October, depending on the weather.
It's another layer of spray sealing on the top of the road, making it more waterproof, smoothing out any potholes, cracks, or other imperfections in the surface.
Included in this work are sections of the road that were not repaired as part of the initial project as well as parts of the road that have been damaged by construction trucks.
In preparation for this work, staff will again be clearing the shoulders of the road of grass and other debris and excavating existing drains.
"We will also take the opportunity to install some more drains where groundwater is not getting away, a problem we have identified with all the recent rain," Phil Holloway, Director Infrastructure Services, said.
"People will have noticed some defects in the road surface, which is normal especially when you consider the amount of rain we've had in recent months.
"This includes defects or damage from construction traffic and the final seal will rectify those," Mr Holloway said.
There will be some short delays for drivers at times as part of this preparation work.
