A man will face court today charged following the seizure of a firearm, a vehicle and a device used to fraudulently purchase items through EFTPOS machines.
In March, NSW Police received information that a man wanted by Queensland Police (QPOL) on an outstanding warrant for fraud-related offence had fled to New South Wales.
The State Crime Command's Financial Crime Squad subsequently commenced an investigation into similar alleged fraud-related offences being committed across NSW.
Following inquiries, an arrest warrant was issued for a 23-year-old man for offences including dishonestly obtain property by deception.
Financial Crime Squad detectives, together with officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command, attended a home at Yambi Place, Cartwright, about 11am yesterday (Monday 26 April 2021).
Following negotiations, specialist police entered the premises and deployed a taser before the man was arrested.
He was taken to Liverpool Hospital with minor injuries.
A search warrant was executed at the home where police seized a Glock style pistol and associated magazine and holster, swords, an axe and a 'WIFI' jammer.
A Ford Explorer, fitted with specialist registration plates and warning lights, was also seized.
Upon release from hospital, the man was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with six counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception and a number of traffic-related offences.
Police will allege in court that the man used an electronic device to disconnect credit card terminals from financial institutions, enabling him to fraudulently purchase goods.
He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Tuesday 27 April 2021).
