Fire investigation, Parramatta Park

Police have declared a crime scene at a Cairns house overnight after cabin-style home was badly damaged by fire.

Police were called to Grove Street in Parramatta Park at 1.40am and were able to safely evacuate all nearby residents.

It's believed the cabin was not occupied at the time of the fire and none of the neighbouring residents sustained physical injuries.

The cabin will remain a crime scene until morning (November 22) to allow for forensic officers to conduct examinations.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the fire, or who may have CCTV or dash-camera footage from Grove Street between 1.30am and 2am, to contact them.

Investigations are ongoing.
