Fire permits temporarily ceased for parts of Far North Queensland

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) has extended the temporary cessation of fire permits in parts of the Far North Region.

The cessation of fire permits started at 5pm, 4 September and will be extended until 5pm Friday, 13 September. This includes fire permits in the Mareeba Shire Council, Tablelands Regional Council and parts of the Cook Shire Council.

This is due to the forecast of heightened fire danger on the Atherton Tablelands and into Cape York.

Any permits currently written, and in force, will be temporarily cancelled during this period.

For more information, contact your local fire warden or call 1300 369 003. To locate your local fires warden visit www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au.
