Firearm discharged - West Daly Region

Northern Territory Police have charged a 23-year-old man after a firearm was allegedly discharged in a West Daly region community yesterday morning.

At around 9.30am police received a report of a man walking around the community with a firearm following an alleged disagreement with another man.

One shot was allegedly fired into the air before another community member disarmed the man.

The 23-year-old continued to make threats and police arrested the man after a short foot chase.

He has since been charged with:

  • Going armed in public
  • Assault
  • Discharge firearm causing danger
  • Carry a loaded firearm in a public place
  • Possess/Use firearm whilst unlicensed

He was remanded to appear in local court today.
