Firearm produced during theft of bags, NSW

Police are investigating after a firearm was produced by a man during the theft of a bag from a sports ground in St Andrews last night, NSW Police say.

About 9.10pm today, Tag League is played across a number of fields on the Stromeferry Reserve, St Andrews.

At the completion of the games a number of people were packing away when they noticed a man, dressed in black with a black ski mask and black hood, stealing a kit bag containing a portable EFTPOS machine and a tin with an amount of cash, as well as a referee’s bag containing an iPhone7 and a wallet.

During the theft the man was challenged by a team member who has witnessed the theft.

The man produced a pistol and pointed it towards the ground as he ran towards a silver Toyota Kluger that was parked at the location.

Police are calling for anyone with information concerning the theft to contact detectives at Macquarie Fields, or Crime Stoppers.
