Firearm Seized after Hadspen Dispute

Just before 9:00am today, Launceston Police attended a report of a projectile being fired into a residence in Kipling Crescent, Hadspen after a property related dispute.

The people involved in the dispute were known to each other and there was no threat to the public.

As a result of the incident, Detectives from Launceston Criminal Investigation Branch conducted a search at a Newnham residence where a firearm, ammunition and drug related paraphernalia were seized.

A 28 year old Newnham man has been charged with numerous firearms related offences including recklessly discharging a firearm and possessing a firearm whilst not the holder of a firearms licence. He is also facing minor drug related charges.

He was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on 7 March 2021.
