Firearm seized, man charged, NSW

A man will face court charged with firearm offences after a gun was seized from a home in Broken Hill yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 10.45pm yesterday, a 67-year-old man was at a home on Lane Lane, Broken Hill, when he was approached by a man allegedly armed with a firearm.

Officers attached to Barrier Local Area Command were notified and attended; however, couldn’t locate the armed man.

Following inquiries, police attended a home on Kaolin Street, Broken Hill, to speak to a 66-year-old man.

During a search of the premises, officers allegedly located a firearm and a pair of handcuffs.

The items were seized.

The man was arrested and taken to Broken Hill Police Station.

He was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, possess unauthorised pistol, possess prohibited weapon without permit x2, intimidation and common assault.

The man was refused bail to appear at Broken Hill Local Court today.
