Firearms and weapons seized; man charged in Punchbowl

A man has been charged with firearm-related offences after the search of a home was conducted in south west Sydney yesterday.

About 7pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 February 2019), officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command and South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad, conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order search at a home on Belair Street, Punchbowl.

Upon searching the home, police seized two firearms, a number of knives and blades, ammunition, an electronic stun device, and capsules believed to contain anabolic steroids.

A 51-year-old man was arrested at the home, and taken to Campsie Police Station.

He was charged with possess unauthorised firearm (x2), not keep firearm safely (x2), possess ammunition without holding permit, firearm etc found at premises-subject to prohibition order, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

The Punchbowl man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Thursday 7 February 2019).
