Firearms compliance check leads to arrest

Detectives from Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit have arrested and charged a Glen Iris man with drugs and theft offences after attending an address in Glen Iris earlier this month.

Officers attended an address on Gatis Street to conduct a Firearms Prohibition Order compliance check.

During the checks police located a large quantity of cash.

A crime scene was immediately established, a 42-year-old man placed under arrest and search warrants applied for.

The property was searched and it is alleged police found drugs, over $300,000 and stolen goods.

The 42-year-old has been charged with deal with proceeds of crime, deal with property suspected of being proceeds of crime and drugs offences.

He has been remanded in custody till 2 June.
