Firearms located during routine intercept at Meadow Heights

Broadmeadows police arrested two men after 14 firearms were located during a routine intercept in Meadow Heights yesterday, Victoria Police say.

Police intercepted a Toyota Hilux on Malmsbury Drive just before 4.30pm.

It is alleged a safe and tool box containing 12 stolen firearms was located inside the vehicle.

Two men, both aged 46, were arrested at the scene.

Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives then executed warrants and a further two firearms, firearms parts and a conducted energy device.

A Coolaroo man was charged with 45 charges, including possess a traffickable quantity of unregistered firearms, trafficking a quantity of unregistered firearms and other firearms offences.

He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

A Meadow Heights man has been released pending further enquiries.
