Firearms seized, NSW

A man has been issued a Future Court Attendance Notice after an unsecured firearm was found at a home in the state’s central west, NSW Police say.

On Monday 19 November 2018, police attached to the Rural Crime Prevention Team conducted a firearms and weapons prohibition order (FPO/WPO) at a home on Whitton Park Road, Peak Hill.

Police served the order on the 47-year-old occupant and a subsequent search located 19 registered firearms in two secure gun cabinets and one unsecured loaded firearm.

The firearms were seized by Police.

The registered owner of the firearms, a 24-year-old man, later attended Parkes Police Station where he was issued with a Future Court Attendance notice for ‘Not ensure safe keeping’.

He will appear at Peak Hill Local Court on Thursday 18 January 2019.

The man’s firearms licence was seized and a suspension notice was served on him.
