Firearms stolen after break-in at South Tamworth home

Police are appealing for public assistance after two firearms were stolen from a home in the state's north-east.

Between 3.30pm and 5pm yesterday (Thursday 20 June 2019), an unknown person/s has entered the premises through a side gate and gained entry to the house where several items were stolen.

Officers from Oxley Police District were called to the home on Goonoo Goonoo Road, South Tamworth, following reports of a break-in.

Two firearms, jewellery, a laptop and a tablet had been stolen.

Occupants of the house were not home at the time.

A crime scene was established at the home, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Local detectives commenced an investigation and are appealing for anyone with information that may assist with their inquiries to come forward.
