First safe Radiology clinic for seniors in Brisbane

Exact Radiology

Exact Radiology Clinics partners today announced they have decided to convert their brand-new comprehensive clinic in the heart of Newstead to an exclusive over 55's clinic providing a safe haven for senior patients for all general radiological investigations and procedures now and into the foreseeable future.

Managing Partner and Radiologist Dr Peter Dunn, said "we recognised there was a clear need to provide senior patients with as safe an environment as possible, and the opening of a brand-new clinic in the heart of Brisbane dedicated to over 55's would do just that."

"If you're under 55 you have many other options but there is no dedicated seniors' clinic in or around Brisbane, and seniors are rightfully feeling extremely vulnerable at this time".

"We were deeply concerned that they felt they had no safe place to go and were neglecting important and potentially life-saving investigations, so we have opened the doors to only over 55's", he said.

Patients will still be screened for possible exposure and contact to COVID-19 prior to entering and will also be given the option to wait in the car - in the shade of undercover parking - to be called in when the room is ready for them.

The clinic offers all X-rays, ultrasound, CT scanning, breast ultrasound and mammography, dental X-rays, MRI scans and offers a range of procedures.

"We still encourage patients to discuss with their referrer whether their investigation is considered urgent or absolutely necessary at this time of crisis, but to definitely not neglect important investigations possibly exposing them to serious health risks".

Dr Dunn said, "What we absolutely don't need at the moment is patients taking up hospital beds and particularly ICU beds if they become seriously ill for what may be eminently treatable conditions if investigated, diagnosed and treated early."

Dr Dunn's team at Exact Radiology is in contact with Qld Heath and is communicating with the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and various General Practitioner and Specialist colleges to spread the news.

No appointment is necessary for X-rays but please contact the clinic on 07 3073 2700 to organise all other investigations and procedures.
