Fitzmaurice St. Lights Up for Mental Health Month '25

Wagga Wagga City Council is joining communities across Australia in shining a light for Mental Health Month 2025, with the trees along Fitzmaurice Street illuminated in green during October to promote awareness and support for the mental health and wellbeing of all young Australians.

This year's theme, Make Space, encourages young people to take time for the activities and connections that support mental wellbeing.

By allowing time for self-care and connection, you can take positive steps to build resilience and strengthen mental health.

Kane Stewart, Awareness and Community Engagement Officer at headspace Wagga Wagga, said lighting Fitzmaurice Street in green serves as a reminder to make space for mental wellbeing.

"Mental health affects us all, and our young people are navigating challenges that can feel overwhelming at times," Kane said.

"Taking small, meaningful actions, like going for a walk or talking with friends, can make a real difference. It's about making space for what supports your wellbeing."
