The Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has moved to Stand Down phase, with the river flow reaching its peak in the Fitzroy River overnight.
LDMG Chair, Mayor Tony Williams said that while the height is beginning to ease, river levels will remain elevated for the next few days as additional flows arrive from the upstream catchments.
"Although the peak has now moved through, we expect to see the Fitzroy level will stay higher than normal over the coming days as further upstream flows make their way down," Mayor Williams said.
"We expect the water levels to return to normal by next week."
Mayor Williams said while Council can't control Mother Nature, it is a relief that we could sufficiently prepare and the impacts from this weather event weren't wider spread.
"We know there was minor inundation to some low-lying areas, mostly sporting fields, which our crews will assess," Mayor Williams said.
"We have a strong sporting community within Rockhampton, so we will do our best to restore these as quick as we can so the games can go on.
"The Archer Street car park that was closed as a precaution, has now reopened.
"The Derby Street car park still has some water in the lower section, so will remain closed for now, as will the Ski Gardens car park."
"Council crews will reassess later in the week and we will keep the community updated."
