Five arrested as part of Operation Sparkler

Police from Croydon Divisional Tasking Unit have arrested five people as part on an ongoing investigation.

Operation Sparkler saw the arrest of two men about 6pm and search warrants were then executed at two homes in Blackburn Road, Burwood East and Pratico Court, Forest Hill about 8.30pm.

A further three people were arrested without incident at the Burwood East property.

During the search of both properties, police have seized approximately 100grams of cocaine and over $450,000 in cash following the execution of two search warrants in East Burwood and Forest Hill.

A 27-year-old Burwood East woman has been charged with traffick cocaine, traffic cannabis and possess proceeds of crime.

She has remanded and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

A 30-year-old Forest Hill man has been charged with two counts of traffic cocaine, possess cocaine, possess cannabis and ecstasy, possess prescription drugs, possess schedule four poison, possess prohibited weapon.

He has been bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates' Court on 29 October.

A 25-year-old Burwood East man has also been charged with traffic a drug of dependence.

He has been bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates' Court on 29 October.

A 19-year-old Burwood East woman has been interviewed and released pending further enquiries.

A 27-year-old Burwood East man was also arrested and remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

Sgt Justin Wool said "this is an outstanding result for all members involved in this operation and we will continue in the pursuit of disrupting drug traffickers who are willing to cause harm to people in our community."
