Five teenagers charged after evasion

Detectives from Melton Crime Investigation Unit have charged five teenagers who evaded police in a stolen vehicle in the early hours of December 4.

Police identified a stolen Honda sedan travelling away from the CBD on CityLink at about 4.20am.

The vehicle failed to stop for police and as a result stop sticks were successfully deployed in Sunshine West.

The vehicle continued to drive along the Western Freeway with the front tyres shredded, before coming to a stop on Ferris Road, Melton South, after failing to negotiate a roundabout.

Five teenagers were arrested after fleeing from the car and subsequently interviewed by police.

All five have been charged with theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving whilst being pursued and handle stolen goods.

The teenagers will face a children's court at a later date.
