Fixated Persons Investigations Unit charge man with 73 domestic violence offences

Officers from the Fixated Persons Investigations Unit have laid 73 charges against a man following an investigation into serious domestic violence offences in Sydney's south west.

In January 2019, officers attached to the Counter Terrorism and Special Tactics Command commenced an investigation into historical reports of sexual and physical abuse against a 31-year-old woman.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 33-year-old man at a correctional facility in Silverwater about 9.30am today (Friday 31 January 2020).

He was charged with 73 offences, including:

  • two counts of aggravated sexual assault,
  • 16 counts of sexual assault,
  • reckless wounding,
  • 22 counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm,
  • four counts of indecent assault, and
  • 28 counts of common assault.

Police will allege in court that the domestic-related assaults occurred between May 2007 and October 2008 and included ongoing physical and sexual abuse.

The man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.
