Flaggy Creek search warrant uncovers explosives materials

East Gippsland Crime Investigation Unit detectives uncovered a large quantity of materials allegedly used to manufacture explosives during a search warrant in Flaggy Creek this week.

Detectives attended the Flaggy Creek Road address on Wednesday after receiving information that an occupant at the address was purchasing the materials.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the address where they located a large quantity of chemical substances and other materials related to the manufacture of explosive substances.

The Arson and Explosives Squad and Victoria Police Forensic Services Centre Arson Chemist attended the scene with East Gippsland CIU members yesterday where a full search of the property was conducted.

A 53-year-old Flaggy Creek man was arrested and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
