RIVER: Todd River

LOCATIONS AFFECTED: Alice Springs

ALERT LEVEL: Watch and Act - Avoid the flooded area

INFORMATION CURRENT AS AT: 010:30 am ACST on Monday 2 March 2026

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA:

• You may become isolated

• Property damage and destruction

• Livestock, and other animals and pets may become isolated

• Fast flowing flood water can contain objects that may injure or trap you

• Flood water may contain toxic waste, chemicals and dangerous animals

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:

FLOODING IS OCCURRING IN THE TODD RIVER

Since Monday 0300 hrs further rainfall has been recorded across the catchment with:

· 34 mm at Mt Sir Charles

· 16 mm at Upper Bond Springs

· 29 mm at Bond Springs

· 38 mm at Bond Springs Turn Off

· 34 mm at Mt Forster (Colyer Creek)

· 29 mm at Mt Lloyd (Charles River)

· 35 mm at Wigley Gorge (Todd River)

· 26 mm at Anzac Oval

The water level at Anzac Oval (Todd River) is 2.37 m and steady.

Other water levels:

· Wigley Gorge (Todd River) is currently 2.73 m and falling (from a peak of 2.77 m at 0850 hrs).

· Big Dipper (Charles River) is currently 0.92 m and falling (from a peak of 0.88 m at 0620 hrs and a second peak of 0.935m at 0940 hrs).

· Bond Springs (Todd River) is currently 1.943 m and falling (after a peak of 2.424 m at 0630 hrs).

Additional Information:

The catchment remains saturated, and river flows are likely to react rapidly if high intensity rainfall occurs.

Bureau of Meteorology:

High chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm in the late afternoon and evening, possibly severe with heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding.

Safety Advice:

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.

Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.Check the ABC and local media for updates.
