ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
Moderate rainfall observed over the weekend has resulted in river level rises and minor flooding at Nitmiluk Centre. The river levels peaked around 4.85 metres Monday morning, and are easing slowly. The river levels at Nitmiluk Centre are likely to remain above the minor flood level during Monday.
River levels at Katherine Bridge are expected to peak below the minor flood level Monday afternoon.
Moderate rainfall is forecast over the catchment for the next few days.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End, Barkly,Tanami and Kimberley Districts.
Katherine River Gorge Road:
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre peaked at 4.85 m around 7:30 am Monday, above the minor flood level (3.0 m). The river is currently at 4.80 m and falling, with minor flooding. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is likely to remain above the minor flood level (3.00 m) during Monday.
Katherine Town:
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is currently at 15.23 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge may peak below 15.50 m Monday afternoon, below the minor flood level (16.0 m). Further rainfall may result in renewed rises.
