ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:

SIGNIFICANT AND PROLONGED MAJOR FLOODING AT DALY RIVER POLICE STATION

Major flooding is occurring along the Daly River at Daly River Police Station, where the river level is likely to exceed 15.30 m overnight Tuesday into Wednesday (above the 1957 flood levels), with further rises expected. An extended peak and significant period of major flooding can be expected through the weekend and into the following week.

The river level at Dorisvale Crossing is currently stable, however is expected to rise from Monday night as the main flood peak from the Katherine River arrives.

Further rainfall is possible over the next few days, which may exacerbate river levels. The situation is being closely monitored and the warning will be updated as required.

A Major Flood Warning is current for the Katherine River, and a Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End.

Daly River above Douglas River:

River level rises are occurring in the upper Daly River, and flooding is expected to continue for at least the next few days.

Fergusson River:

River levels are elevated along the Fergusson River and tributaries.

Lower Daly River:

Major flooding is occurring along the Daly River.

The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is currently at 14.87 m and rising, with major flooding. This is already above the February 2026 flood level. The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is likely to exceed 15.30 m overnight Tuesday into Wednesday with major flooding, higher than the 1957 flood levels of 15.19 metres. Further rises are expected as upstream flows arrive.
