Flood Threat Reduced For Mulgrave And Russell Rivers

The Cairns Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) advises people in the following area(s):

  • Peets Bridge and parts of Goldsborough area
  • Low lying areas of Gordonvale
  • Parts of Babinda area and surrounds including East Russell and
  • Eubenangee

That conditions are easing. River and creek levels are falling in the Mulgrave and Russell River catchments.

Some isolation continues including households at East Russell.

The Bureau of Meteorology has released a Final Flood Warning for the Mulgrave and Russell Rivers.

FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED AT PEETS BRIDGE AND GORDONVALE.

Impacts in your area

  • There may still be some flooding near the rivers and creeks.
  • Some roads remain closed due to flooding.
  • Possible pothole, tree branches and debris on roads.

What you should do

  • Stay away from creeks, rivers, and drains.
  • Travel to the conditions, plan your route carefully to avoid any flooded or damaged roads, you may need to allow extra travel time. If it's flooded forget it.
  • Be aware of road hazards including tree branches and debris.
