Arboriculture students will be undertaking training works next week along Moores Road, adjacent to Moores Park in Flowerdale.
The works will involve the removal of seven Mahogany Gums (Eucalyptus botriodes). This species is not native to the area and the trees have been impacted by lerp infestations (tiny sap-sucking insects that weaken leaves) and a fungal pathogen affecting their structural integrity.
The site is located beside a waterway and will be replanted with indigenous species in partnership with Flowerdale Landcare. Further tree removal and replacement planting will occur in the area over time.
