Logan City Council will make a splash this National Water Week with a renewed focus on responsible water use.
The theme for National Water Week 2019, which kicks off on today, is "it's time to change the world".
Logan City Council Roads and Water Acting Director Daryl Ross said it was a timely reminder given the current drinking water supply levels in our dams.
"We all have a part to play in promoting responsible water use," Mr Ross said.
"Clean and free-flowing water is vital for the survival of local communities.
"The prolonged dry weather has two effects on drinking water.
"Our storage levels continue to fall while our usage continues to rise – with usage getting close to Millennium drought levels.
"National Water Week encourages us to change the world and we are proud to do our part to continue the excellent work the community undertakes to limit tap water waste in Logan."
Council continues to take a multi-pronged approach to encouraging sustainable water use.
Ongoing Council campaigns include "Waterwise" and "Healthy Water".
Logan Water officers will serve free iced tea – made from tap water – at the Logan Central Library on Wednesday from 9.30am.
Council's Water Wagon will also be at this Friday's Eats & Beats in Rotary Park, Jimboomba from 5pm.
The wagon promotes the use of reusable water bottles by offering free tap water at public events.
Officers will be at both events to answer any questions about drinking water supply and the benefits of "choosing tap".
