Food Safety Week 2021

food safety inspection

It's Food Safety Week, so we thought we'd shine a light on the work of our own food safety team, which helps our local businesses keep up to date with food safety standards as set out by the NSW Government.

Even during COVID lockdowns the team has been busy, visiting more than 250 cafes, take-away shops, restaurants, mobile food vans and stalls in 12 months.

The good news is, the vast majority of local businesses (86%) passed with flying colours the first time around.

That number jumped to 97.5% after a follow-up visit.

One reason for our strong performance when it comes to food safety is the large number of local operators (221) taking part in the "I'm Alert' food safety training.

The team has also been at the forefront of our work to keep our community safe during the pandemic, helping food outlets with the complexities of COVID safety plans and procedures.
