Four charged after damaging police vehicle in Mayfield

Four people have been charged after allegedly damaging a police vehicle in Mayfield last night, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 12am yesterday, police were called to Hanbury Street, Mayfield, responding to complaints about the behaviour of large group of youths.

After moving on the youths, police returned to their vehicle and saw four people running east along Maitland Road.

Police engaged in a foot pursuit and arrested four teenage boys. They were taken to Newcastle City Police Station where they were charged.

Two boys aged 14, and one boy aged 16 have been charged with destroy/damage property in company and granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Monday 19 December 2016.

The fourth boy, aged 16 was charged with destroy/damage property in company.

He was refused bail pending audio video link at a children’s court today Sunday 11 December 2016.
