Four teenagers charged after police pursuit in Sydney's west

Four teenage boys will face court charged after a pursuit through numerous suburbs in Sydney's west yesterday.

About 12.15pm (Tuesday 1 June 2021), officers attached to the Parramatta Police Area Command observed an allegedly stolen black 2015 Toyota hatchback travelling on Bungaree Road, Toongabbie.

When the driver failed to stop as directed, police initiated a pursuit. The Toyota then accelerated, allegedly reaching speeds in excess of 100kmh in a 50kmh zone. The pursuit was terminated.

A short time later PolAir detected the vehicle travelling east at high speeds, in a dangerous manner, on the M4 Motorway at Prospect.

After travelling through the WestConnex tunnel, the Toyota conducted a U-turn at Parramatta Road, Ashfield, before re-entering the tunnel.

Police initiated a pursuit, with the vehicle allegedly reaching speeds in excess of 150kmh in a 80kmh zone. The pursuit was terminated.

PolAir tracked the vehicle along a number of roads to King Street, Concord West, where the vehicle stopped and five people ran towards Concord West Railway Station. Three boys – aged 15 and 16-years-old were arrested after a foot pursuit.

Another 15-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl travelled by train to Toongabbie, where the boy was arrested.

The two 15-year-old boys have been charged with breach of bail, pursuit and stolen vehicle offences. They were refused bail and will appear today (Wednesday 2 June 2021) at a children's court.

The two 16-year-old boys were charged with stolen vehicle offences. One was refused bail to appear today at a children's court. The other was given conditional bail and will appear at a children's court on Tuesday 22 June 2021.
