Four teenagers have been charged following a pursuit with police from Sydney's southwest to the eastern suburbs.
About 10.30am today (Thursday 8 May 2025), officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command attempted to stop a Mazda CX3 – reportedly stolen from a home in Victoria yesterday (Wednesday 8 May 2025) – on the Hume Highway, Edmondson Park.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued along the M5 Motorway towards the M7 at Prospect before it was terminated due to safety concerns.
With the assistance of Polair, the vehicle was tracked travelling along the M5 Motorway at Milperra, where the pursuit was reengaged.
Multiple resources assisted; however, the pursuit was terminated after items were allegedly thrown from the vehicle towards police.
Polair continued to track the vehicle traveling eastbound along the M5 Motorway which travelled through local streets of Alexandria, Zetland, Centennial Park, Randwick and Bondi Junction.
About 11.20pm the vehicle was allegedly dumped inside the bus interchange at Bondi Junction Railway Station with all four occupants fleeing the vehicle and running onto the train platform.
Plain clothes officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command Proactive Crime Team, spotted the individuals involved, before a foot pursuit commenced.
Two teenage boys – aged 14 – and two girls aged 12 and 17 – were arrested and assisted by officers on their first day as probationary constables and taken to Surry Hills Police Station.
The 17-year-old driver was charged with two counts police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, class A motor vehicle exceed speed more than 45km/h, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner,
never licensed person drive vehicle on road, goods in custody suspected being stolen and receive property stolen outside NSW.
The passengers were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
All were refused bail and will appear before a Childrens court tomorrow (Friday 9 May 2025)
