Fourth man charged with murder after investigations into fatal stabbing at Emu Plains

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a fourth man with murder following investigations into the fatal stabbing of another man in Sydney's west last year.

About 8am on Thursday 24 September 2020, emergency services were called to a reserve on Russell Street at Emu Plains, after the body of a man was located.

He has since been formally identified as a 22-year-old Minchinbury man.

A vehicle found crashed nearby was seized for forensic examination.

Detectives from Nepean Police Area Command and the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad established Strike Force Mathinna to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

So far during the investigation, seven men – aged 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26 and 27 – have been charged over their alleged roles in the incident and remain before the courts.

Following further extensive inquiries, Homicide Squad detectives attended a correctional facility at Nowra and arrested a 22-year-old man just before 9am yesterday (Wednesday 11 August 2021).

He was subsequently charged with murder and remanded in custody.

The man appeared at Nowra Local Court yesterday and is next due to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court tomorrow (Friday 13 August 2021).
