France Commemorates 75th Year of Human Rights Convention

Council of Europe

To mark the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights (1950-2025), La Poste (the postal service of France) has issued an official stamp for the Council of Europe's post in Strasbourg.

"From Strasbourg, the European Capital of Human Rights, this stamp symbolises the partnership between La Poste and the Council of Europe, carrying, both in the literal and the figurative sense, the values upheld by the European Convention on Human Rights for 75 years. A beautiful philatelic tribute to our Europe, more than ever steadfast in its commitment to the rule of law, to democracy, and to human rights," said Pap Ndiaye, Permanent Representative of France to the Council of Europe.

The stamp was issued to raise awareness of the Convention among the public, and to highlight the importance of the Convention and its protection of fundamental rights in French life.

The launch this September was carried out within a cooperation framework between the Council of Europe and La Poste and will be available to the public from selected outlets.
