Free AI Training for 1 Million Aussies

Dept of Industry, Science and Resources

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly embedded into workplaces, the Albanese Government is taking action to ensure that small business operators and workers are ready to seize the opportunities that AI brings.

To support this, the Government - through the National AI Centre (NAIC), and in partnership with TAFE NSW's Institute of Applied Technology - Digital (IATD) - is offering one million fully subsidised scholarships for an online microskill course based on the Government's Guidance for AI Adoption, launched in October.

Building on the success of last year's Introduction to Artificial Intelligence microskill course, this updated program integrates responsible AI principles into practical, modular learning.

It equips Australians with the skills to apply AI ethically and effectively in real-world settings, fostering safe and responsible technology use across industries. The Albanese Government is driving the widespread development and adoption of AI through the recently released National AI Plan.

A core pillar of the Plan is spreading the benefits, ensuring AI opportunities reach all Australians, especially First Nations people, women, people with disability and regional communities.

By embedding equity at the heart of AI adoption, the plan aims to create a future where technology benefits all.

The Albanese Labor Government is also establishing the Australian AI Safety Institute, a dedicated body to address and respond to AI-related risks and harms.
