Campaspe Shire Council are pleased to share an exciting free opportunity for event organisers, as the Australian Centre for Regional Events deliver an Event Management Bootcamp in Echuca on Friday, 22 May.

The full-day bootcamp will be led by experienced event management specialist Cathy Treasure, who will guide participants through the five stages of the event experience, offering practical advice and contemporary insights to help build sustainable, successful events.

Mayor Cr Daniel Mackrell said events play a vital role in the Campaspe region.

"Our events bring people together, showcase our towns and directly support local businesses through increased visitation," Cr Mackrell said.

"By investing in the skills and confidence of our event organisers, we are strengthening the long-term success of events right across the shire."

The Event Management Bootcamp will explore the current events landscape, including emerging trends, challenges and opportunities facing organisers in regional areas. Participants will gain practical tools and strategies across all stages of event delivery, with a strong focus on creating memorable and meaningful attendee experiences.

Cr Mackrell said the workshop aligns with Council's broader commitment to supporting organisers and community-led events.

"Many of our local events are driven by passionate volunteers and small teams," he said.

"This bootcamp provides access to expert guidance that may otherwise be difficult to obtain, helping organisers feel supported and better equipped to grow their events."

The session will also address two key challenges commonly faced by event organisers - financial sustainability and building a strong team. The program will explore financial viability and diversification of income streams to reduce reliance on sponsorships and grants, as well as practical approaches to recruiting, managing and retaining event teams.

Cr Mackrell said investing in event sustainability has long‑term benefits for communities.

"Well-run events mean fewer cancellations, stronger reputations and greater confidence for sponsors, volunteers and attendees," he said.

The bootcamp also offers a valuable opportunity for networking, allowing participants to connect with other event organisers from across the region and share knowledge, experiences and support.

The Event Management Bootcamp is free for event organisers and is capped at 20 events, with up to two attendees per event entity registered. Expressions of interest are now open.
