With the winter season now underway, Hornsby Shire Council has unveiled its upcoming schedule of free guided bushwalks, aimed at providing an educational, safe and enjoyable outdoor experience, exclusively for Hornsby Shire residents.

The bushwalking program certainly has something for everyone, with a wide range of events planned, some targeted at beginners looking to take an easy stroll, others to bushwalking enthusiasts looking for a challenging hike.

Bushwalkers will be sure to learn a lot on these outings, with knowledgeable guides and organisers providing fascinating insights into the natural and cultural history of the Bushland Shire. Upcoming guided bushwalks this winter include:

  • Jerusalem Bay Bushwalk, Cowan
  • Endangered Forest Walk, Cherrybrook
  • Refuge Rock Bushwalk for Beginners, Cherrybrook
  • Gibberagong Waterhole Bushwalk, North Wahroonga
  • Smugglers Ridge Bushwalk, Fiddletown.

Hornsby Shire Mayor Warren Waddell has encouraged residents to take up the opportunity to explore nature and continue to get outside during winter with this bushwalking initiative.

"The guided winter bushwalks offer a fantastic opportunity for residents to immerse themselves in the Bushland Shire's natural beauty and learn about local plants and wildlife from our experts," said Mayor Waddell.

The winter bushwalks are part of Hornsby Shire Council's rolling program of guided walks which showcase the Bushland Shire through the changing seasons. Programs are announced three times per year and are very popular – residents are advised to book early so they don't miss out. Bookings will open a month before each walk.
